Studio Naughty Dog currently working on two games. One of them is a multi-user project related to The Last of Usand the second is an as-yet-unannounced PlayStation 5 game. Both Naughty Dog co-president and The Last of Us series director Neil Druckmann explained why the studio hasn’t unveiled its next major title yet.

In an interview ComicBook Druckmann said that Naughty Dog has repeatedly suffered from the habit of announcing their projects too early. In particular, work on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Last of Us Part 2 the studio reported years before a possible release. And while the early announcements helped create hype, it’s a practice the studio doesn’t want to repeat.

According to Druckmann, the early announcements caused work-life balance issues for studio staff. By postponing the introduction of games, developers can be more free with the schedule and more consciously plan the process.

Not so long ago, Druckmann announced that the story of The Last of Us does not yet seem complete to him. This may confirm rumors that the studio is already working on The Last of Us Part 3.
