Hygiene is important, but it can also be overdone. Anyone working in the medical profession knew the problem even before the pandemic: regular hand washing and disinfecting damage the skin.
But it’s not just our hands that we often put too much strain on due to hygiene. Many people also care for much more private parts of the body, such as the intimate area, incorrectly. This starts with how often the intimate area is cleaned: According to dermatologists, urologists and gynaecologists, intimate areas should not be cleaned extensively more than once a day. However, after exercise, sexual intercourse or when you have sweated, you can make an exception and do intimate hygiene twice a day.
Washing too often dries out the skin. Not only can this make her itchy, it also makes her more susceptible to infections. But there is more to consider than the frequency of maintenance.
