The new year of 2023 brings with it a new generation of affordable smartphones for those looking for a quality / price mobile phone, in this case the OPPO A78 5G. The Android smartphone has now been officially presented by the Chinese company and will reach global markets with a new value proposition.
The presentation was expected thanks to previous leaks of information which, as will be explained below, ended up materializing in full. So here we have a new Android smartphone with 50 MP cameras, the promise of good value for money and MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor.
This is the new OPPO A78 5G smartphone
The latest release from the Chinese manufacturer is now available in the Indian market. Subsequently, we have a global distribution in order to renew the current mid / low range range. So, let’s see what this mobile phone has to offer this year, which is now ending its first week.
First of all, the design of the new OPPO A78 5G is very similar, if not the same, to that of the OPPO A58 5G, a model officially announced in November 2022.
Anyway, I say that it has a defined visual identity and, at least, stands out from the competition in this segment of affordable smartphones.
Straight edges, rounded corners and a careful finish on this Android smartphone
In first place we have the 6.56-inch diagonal screen, IPS LCD technology with HD+ resolution (720p) and high refresh rate up to 90 Hz. We also have the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, a relatively powerful octa-core SoC.
We can also account for the 8 GB of RAM memory, as well as the 128 GB of internal storage. Furthermore, we have the possibility to expand this value using a micro SD memory card.
Dual camera with 50 MP + 2 MP sensor
The smartphone integrates a dual main camera, consisting of the 50 MP primary sensor. We also have an additional sensor for depth information with 2 MP resolution. On the front, for selfies, we can find the 8 MP camera.
The OPPO A78 5G phone is powered by a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh and charging at 33 W. It also has USB Type-C connectivity, a 3.5 mm audio port, as well as water resistance with IP 54 certification.
This OPPO smartphone also features the ColorOS 13 interface, based on Google’s Android 13 operating system. Finally, its recommended retail price is the equivalent of 230 dollars, around 200 euros at the current conversion rate.
Finally, we look forward to its arrival in Europe as well as other world markets during the first quarter of the year. On a personal note, I say that it suffers from the screen resolution, clearly low, but it delivers promising features in other aspects.
For anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive, up-to-date, well-built phone with a focus on photography, then this could be a good buy. Although the screen resolution is its biggest drawback, it still delivers a captivating “package” for the market reality in 2023.
