The inexorable growth of Steamwhich thanks to the success of the recent Winter Sales has recorded new records of users connected to the platform at the same time.
Yesterday January 7, the first day after the Christmas holidays, the SteamDB tracking tools recorded more than 32 million users connected to Steam at the same time (32.186.055 to be exact). The threshold of 32 million is not the only one to have been breached for the first time, since a peak of 10 million players in the game at the same time (10.082.055), a figure never seen before.
Of those 10 million players engaged in a game, 1.08 million were battling it out on the immortal Counter Strike: Global Offensive, 766,000 on the equally long-lived DOTA 2, 605,000 on Goose Goose Duck, 439,000 on PUBG Battlegrounds and 367k on Apex Legends.
The Winter Sales certainly played an important role in breaking these records, since, to the tune of unmissable offers on thousands and thousands of titleshave given more than one reason to historical players to return to the platform and enticed new users to approach Steam for the first time, the nerve center of PC gaming.
