Alan Wake 2
His name is Wake, Alan Wake, and it’s been more than 10 years that fans of survival horror in third person view have been waiting for him to return with new content. Good news, the writer who had many misadventures in Bright Falls is preparing to return next year on the occasion of a new episode, even though the American Nightmare DLC was initially considered to be a real sequel before Microsoft decided otherwise. Now in partnership with Epic Games, Remedy promises that Alan Wake II will be a real horror game, and that it will be the most beautiful game ever made by the studio. Developed under the Northlight Engine, the survival-horror is in full production phase. We should therefore have new information soon. We are already looking forward to staying in the light.

Amnesia : The Bunker
Among the masters of horror gaming, we find Frictional Games. The parents of SOMA and Penumbra will return in 2023 with a new episode of their favorite saga Amnesia. Subtitled Amnesia: The Bunker, the software will immerse us in the shoes of a French soldier in the hell of the Great War. The latter, lost in a bunker and pursued by supernatural threats lurking in the dark, will have to stay in the light so as not to pass from life to death. The developers promise a semi-open world and different events in each game. We can only hope that the gun and the lamp of our unfortunate hero will help him to effectively face the demonic forces that surround him.

Dead Space
Unveiled in July 2021, the remake of Dead Space made a strong impression thanks to its graphics worthy of the next-gen, its still as successful atmosphere, and its new features which seem to integrate well with the original experience. There is, for example, simplified handling in zero gravity, variations in the level design thanks to the effects of energy cores, but also random events designed to surprise the player with each new game. More than just a technical update, this remake smacks of Motive’s love for the source material. There isn’t much time left to wait before you can dismember the Necromorphs of USG Ishimura.

Killer Klowns From outer Space : The Game
If you grew up in the 80s and 90s, you may have known Killer Klowns from Outer Space, a movie about alien human-killing clowns. Having become cult among a fringe of insiders, these clowns are preparing their return to video games. Developed by Teravision Games, to whom we owe Friday the 13th, the software offers asymmetrical gameplay where 7 humans have the mission to survive against 3 clowns. Different classes are on the program, and the monsters have access to popcorn bazookas, dog balloons or even invisible motorcycles. This should allow you to have a good laugh in front of your screen when the title arrives next year.

Layers of Fear
Produced under Unreal Engine 5 by the Bloober Team, this new Layers of Fear (2023) puts us in the shoes of the painter’s wife and invites us to dive back into the series’ characteristic psychological horror. At the head of projects such as Blair Witch, Observer, The Medium or the remake of Silent Hill 2, the studio has made a specialty of the genre. Although the content of the experience is still mysterious, we know that the plastic of the title should be advantageous with 4K, ray tracing, HDR effects and realistic lighting thanks to the Lumen system.

Project Zero: The Lunar Eclipse Mask
Originally released on Wii in 2008 only in Japan, Project Zero: The Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will return in a technically improved version on current machines. Fifteen years later and for the first time in Europe, we will finally be able to get our hands on the remastered version of the fourth installment of Project Zero. As a reminder, The Mask of the Eclipse immerses us in the middle of the lands of the island of Rogetsu. Equipped with the Camera Obscura, a camera with special properties, the player will flush out and repel the malevolent spirits of the surroundings. The adventurer will only be able to rely on his flashlight and his camera to explore the island’s abandoned mansions and hospitals.

Resident Evil 4
It was in June 2022 that Capcom formalized the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil 4. Needless to say, the pressure is strong on the teams, since the title released in 2005 on GameCube had upset the codes of survival-horror. The players and the press of the time even spoke of a revolution, of a “before” and an “after” Resident Evil 4. Finding a way to rehabilitate such a myth is a necessarily delicate mission. The Japanese group has decided to put the small dishes in the big by offering completely redone graphics, by dusting off the gameplay, and by changing various elements compared to the basic game. So diehard fans should be surprised, much like what Capcom had for the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Unveiled in 2010 and shown at length at Microsoft’s E3 2021 conference, STALKER 2: The Heart of Chornobyl (and no longer Chernobyl) has been postponed several times. GSC Game World’s Ukrainian team recently had to deal with the conflict with Russia, which obviously put the development of the title on hold. STALKER 2 is an FPS with survival and RPG elements. The software will offer an adventure that will not be linear. According to official information, the studio has set up one of the largest open-worlds ever designed to date, world in which the protagonists live their own lives thanks to the “A-Life” system. Player choices would also have a real impact on the course of the story.

Silent Hill 2 Remake
In my restless dreams, I see this town… Silent Hill. Take out the bottles of champagne, James Sunderland will indeed return to our current machines thanks to a remake. The question that everyone is now asking is: how will the Bloober Team succeed in resuscitating Silent Hill 2, this game which today is still considered essential in the survival-horror genre? Some fans have already voiced their dissatisfaction with the physical appearance of the hero, but also with the too “clean” aspect of the monsters and the scenery. The studio has promised to use all the features of the PlayStation 5 to provide an overwhelming experience. We cross our fingers so that this Silent Hill reconstituted thanks to the Unreal Engine 5 takes us out of our comfort zone.

Slitterhead
Slitterhead may mean nothing to you, however, he’s the next survival-horror from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. As if that weren’t enough, the soundscape will be signed Akira Yamaoka, excuse me. Slitterhead is still a mysterious game. All that is known is that the player will have to get out of the clutches of deformed creatures by attacking them with bloody katana blows. The action should therefore have an important part in the experience, although it is a horrific software. No date has yet been formalized, but the studio has expressed its wish to release the title in 2023.
