According to the well-known analyst e insider Ming-Chi Kuowhich has become something of an authority on information about Apple, the company would deleted the project of a new iPhone SEtherefore the model that should have arrived in 2024 it will not come out.
A new iPhone SE was expected not for the 2023 generation, i.e. iPhone 15, but for next year, i.e. 2024, probably alongside what should be the iPhone 16, but apparently the plans have changed in that Cupertino. The news would come from one imposed stop to the production chain, which would have received orders not to proceed with a fourth version of the iPhone SE.
We recall that the latest model released in the economic line of Apple smartphones is the iPhone SE from 2022 presented together with the iPhone 14, containing rather advanced hardware but the form factor of the old iPhone 8, i.e. the last one with pronounced frames and the key fingerprint sensor (virtual) on the front.
According to reports from Kuo, it seems that the cancellation is practically final, i.e. that Apple has no intention of continuing with the production of the cheap iPhone in the future, at least for quite a while. This, however, could have influences on the potential use of the internally produced 5G modem in the iPhone 16, given that the latter seemed to be closely linked with the development of the new iPhone SE.
Given the decision to cancel the production line of the new version of the cheap smartphone, it is possible that Apple decides to simply continue with the Qualcomm solution for the 5G modem inside the iPhone 16, pending any feedback.
If all this were to happen, apparently we will not see an iPhone SE with a “modern” form factor, given that the next model expected for 2024 was the one suspected of presenting an important change in look, which could be similar to that of the iPhone X .
