In Sigulda, Latvia, representatives of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Mandziy and Anton Dukach continued their successful performances at World Cup in luge sports.
34 year old Andrey Mandziy from Kremenets in the first race showed the sixth time and set the Ukrainian record for men in a single-seat sleigh on the track in Latvia, for the first time out of 48 seconds (47.968). The ninth place, which Mandziy took after two performances, was his best individual result at the KM stages.
27-year-old Lviv resident Anton Dukach also updated a personal record (48.219 sec) and finished the competition in the highest for himself in his career 12th place.
A few days earlier there was a double podium for Ukrainian lugers in Sigulda. Athletes of the Ukrainian national team won two medals at once at the stage Nations Cup in luge, which took place in the Latvian Sigulda. This is the second most powerful competition in this sport.
Andrei Mandziy became the silver medalist of the competition, losing 0.329 seconds only to the German Max Langenhan (47.996). Anton Dukach shared third place with Sweden’s Svante Kohala (both lost to the winner by 0.333).
