Leading figure in competitive gaming with the Splatoon and Mario Kart sagas, Super Smash Bros. continues to attract fans around the world through different competitions. The 2023 premiere, called Let’s Make Big Move, attracted a great crowd and once again witnessed MkLeo’s stratospheric level of play.

MkLeo, a reference from Smash Bros. Ultimate
He is one of those players who are known to be (almost) invincible in their category. We can cite the examples of Faker on League of Legends or even s1mple on Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The Smash Bros saga. also has its champions. After the excellence of Mew2King on Melee and Brawl, he gave way to the Mexican player Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez: one of the only players to repel the attempts of the French player Solary Glutonny (even if the latter won during a Major). If MkLeo is only in third place on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he is still considered the best player in the world and has long been the man to beat: his 37 finals in a row bear witness to this.
A talent (and a lot of hard work) that MkLeo displays in every tournament he enters. If he does not win them all, he rarely positions himself outside the top 10 of the tournament. Something he continues with his first event of 2023: the Let’s Make Big Moves. If he fails at the foot of the podium in singles, he grabs the silver in doubles with in particular a feat during his semi-final:
Good .Mkleo won a 1v2 against onin and riddles, in which he has 1 life left and his opponents have 4 lives in total.
As evidenced by the video above, MkLeo (Joker from Persona 5 on Smash Bros Ultimate) manages to fend off his two opponents despite his only remaining life.
Too strong characters? Well no
Abuse of trust by the duo of Onin and Riddles? You should know that both are respective players of Steve (Minecraft) and Kazuya (Tekken). They are also the best representatives of these characters in America (Riddles placed sixth in singles during the competition). What better to understand the level displayed by MkLeo during this tournament but also to give a reason to bury certain complaints from the Smash community.
Indeed, since its release, the character Steve has horrified many fans of the game. They have made it known with a hashtag #BanSteve. More generally, it is some players who point out that Nintendo would have voluntarily put stronger characters in paid content (as is the case with Steve but also with Kazuya) in order to force players to checkout. With this victory for MkLeo, the proof is that at a high level, such considerations no longer exist.
