Air Fryers, or if you prefer, hot air fryers are increasingly in fashion. However, sometimes they need a little help to make the food even better. However, not all materials are safe for your machine. In fact, there are some that seem more unlikely but that can be used without problems and there are others that you cannot use at all. In the case of Air Fryers there are things that you can use without problems, but there are four that you really have to avoid!
Air Friyers: what you can use and what you really have to avoid!
Air Fryers: what you can use and what you really have to avoid!
tracing paper
Tracing paper helps prevent food from sticking together. That said, if you’re frying sticky foods like seasoned chicken wings or other foods like chocolate chip cookies, you really should use it.
Line the bottom with cut parchment paper. Make sure you evenly distribute the food you are going to fry to prevent it from lifting. If there are empty parts, the force of the hot air that is circulating can make the paper flutter and make it difficult to cook food.
In addition, you can also use parchment paper on other less greasy foods. This just makes cleaning that much easier.
toothpicks
The toothpicks help hold the food. In fact, there are many recipes that require us to use these sticks. This is for wrapping certain foods with bacon. It is very useful for stuffed chicken breast or rolled meat.
aluminum foil
It doesn’t hurt to use aluminum foil in the air fryer. It’s a good conductor of heat, so if you don’t want your food to be exposed to direct heat and prefer it to cook your food evenly, it’s definitely something to use.
Just make sure you seal it properly to keep the foil from flying around.
You can also line the bottom of your deep fryer with aluminum foil. Be sure to place the food evenly on top to hold it.
heat resistant dishes
Heat-resistant dishes like Pyrex dishes that work well in the microwave will likely work well in a deep fryer. This should help minimize cleanup. It’s also a great system for heating food.
steel bowls
Steel bowls are also good conductors of heat. They can mimic the effect of an oven, especially if you close the top of a steel bowl with aluminum foil. That said, it traps heat inside so food cooks instead of frying on the outside.
What to avoid
Water
Water can be used sparingly in the fryer, however you will often find that there is little or no need to do this. In most cases it should be avoided as in combination with circulating air it can cause significant damage to the machine.
Plastic
Plastic is not suitable. If you put plastic of any kind in the Air Fryer it is likely to melt and cause a real mess or significant damage to your machine.
sauces
Sauces should also be avoided unless it comes from a marinade. If it’s consistent even better. It’s just that otherwise it can start to spread everywhere. As would happen with water.
Paper sheets
However, sheets of paper burn and can even cause a fire if you place them in the Air Fryer. So there are some alternatives I mentioned above that may be more suited to your needs when using the machine.
