While Virtual Reality enthusiasts rejoice in the first confirmations on the launch of Meta Quest 3 in 2023, an era for Virtual Reality linked to the Meta/Oculus universe is coming to an end.
The top management of the company have in fact announced to the users of the primo Oculus Quest that soon support will cease offered to the hardware. This means that, starting from 2023, Meta will no longer dedicate any resources to the development of new features for the device, for which, however, constant updating is guaranteed as regards the security measures. On this front, the company’s commitment remains confirmed until at least 2024.
Of course, all owners of the first Oculus Quest/Meta Quest they will be able to continue to use the VR viewer with all the compatible games in their possession. From the date of March 5, 2023instead, they will cease to be available social functions associated with the Virtual Reality device.
The overall commitment made by Meta in the field of Virtual reality it doesn’t seem to be in any way in question, especially in light of Oculus Studios’ most recent expansions.
