Horizon Forbidden West it was one of the flagship titles Sony during 2022, capable of obtaining valuable acclaim from critics and audiences all over the world. Given the popularity of the second adventure of Aloythe Japanese giant has created special bundle PS5 with the game attached to further boost sales.
The PS5s sold in combo with Horizon Forbidden West have been quite widespread in European territory, especially in the United Kingdom, and it is therefore reasonable to imagine that a large part of the sales of the titles Guerrilla Games placed during 2022 are due to this specific offer. Yet, the situation seems to be quite different, at least according to what was revealed on Twitter by Christopher Dring Of Games Industry.
Responding to a follower who pointed out how this type of bundle gives a big boost to the sales of the attached games, Dring pointed out a curious fact: the80% of European sales of Horizon Forbidden West have occurred independently, therefore without the game being connected to any bundle with PS5. The latter would therefore have had a marginal role in the commercial success of the last effort Guerrilla, equal to the rest 20%.
However, it cannot be excluded that the large gap in terms of percentages may have also been influenced by the poor availability of the Sony console in Europe for most of the last year: last July, for example, PS5 had recorded declining sales in Europe in the first half of 2022 compared to what was recorded in the same period of 2021.
