It’s been several years now that the mascots of yesteryear have returned to the front of the stage. We obviously think of Tony Hawk who obtained a remake of the first two episodes of Pro Skater in 2020, but also of Crash Bandicoot who returned with several games, including a completely new one: the excellent Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. If we are to believe a recent tweet published by the Toys For Bob studio, it could also be that a cute little purple dragon is following the same path as the former furry hero of Naughty Dog… Yes, a new Spyro opus could be in the works.
If you look at Toys For Bob’s tweet and the accompanying image at a glance, it’s just impossible to see the little messages hidden on the right or on the left, but if you If you look longer, we can see that the Californian studio has slipped – in addition to some photos of the team – some images that could give us a little clue about future projects.
A new opus for Spyro?
As you can see, in the lower left corner, we can see an image of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022), which there is nothing really surprising since the team has been working on the license for a few years now, more precisely, since the beginning of 2021. If we look even longer, this time we can notice the presence of Spyro the dragon in the upper left corner. If we were pessimistic, we might have thought that this is just a simple look at one of their favorite mascot, but that was without counting on the presence of a little ” 25th” by his side…
You understood, since the first Spyro the Dragon was released on PlayStation in 1998, this means that the hero will celebrate his 25th anniversary this year. A date for the less important which could be marked by the arrival of a new opus – why not a fourth chapter that would follow the first trilogy released on PlayStation (and therefore the 2018 remake).
However, note that Toys For Bob recently formalized work on a certain Crash Team Rumble, an amazing multiplayer game that features all the characters from the Crash Bandicoot saga. We therefore imagine that Spyro, on the occasion of his 25th anniversary, could simply make an appearance in this future software, which is quite possible given that the characters have already teamed up in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.
For you, the year 2023 will celebrate the arrival of a new Spyro game or simply an event in his effigy in Crash Team Rumble? On our side, we hope that we will have the right to the first option.
