After numerous delays, Ubisoft’s new pirate game Skull and Bones should have finally been released on March 9th of this year. Although the developers themselves were probably not too convinced of the quality of the product, Skull and Bones has to appear at some point.
Skull and Bones will now be released sometime after April 1st
As it stands, however, we rejoiced a little too soon. Ubisoft is currently not generating as much revenue as the company would like and is facing some challenges from changes in the industry. As a result, the publisher is now focusing on their biggest brands and live services to fuel their growth. Skull and Bones (buy now) is not exactly one of Ubisoft’s strongest brands, which is why the title has now been postponed again, this time without an exact release date.
“Players will be able to discover the beauty of Skull and Bones in the upcoming beta phase. The additional time has already paid off and resulted in impressive quality improvements, which has been confirmed by recent playtests. We believe that players will be pleasantly surprised by the development . We have decided to delay the release in order to have more time to present an improved and balanced experience and to generate awareness. Skull and Bones will now be released in early 2023-24.”

With 2023-24, Ubisoft probably means their fiscal year, which begins on April 1st. This delay should now be about the sixth time that Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones has been postponed. So it makes perfect sense that the company would want to generate more attention for the game, since many users have probably already forgotten that the title even exists.
