Game:Sonic Mega Collection PlusPublisher:SegaDeveloper:Sonic TeamGenre:Retro CollectionTested for:PS2, XboxAvailable for:PS2, XboxUSK:Released in:3/2005
Two years after the Gamecube, Sega is still making PS2 and Xbox happy with the Sonic Mega Collection. To make up for the wait, there’s a handful of fresh extras and bonus games – hence the new one Plus-Appendage. A dozen titles are already known and perfectly emulated: in addition to the classic one Sonic-Trilogy you whiz through Sonic & Knuckles (which also pimps the three predecessors by means of ‘insertion’ technology) and Sonic 3D Blastflippert in Sonic Spinball and puzzles Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. These are joined Roasts and Flicky for a change.
In the Plusvariant you will also receive six game gear appearances of the company mascot – in addition to some implementations of the racing game Drift as well as the hoppers Labyrinth (isometric) and Chaos (classic). The extended program is rounded off by the chic mega-drive brawler Comix Zone such as The Ooze. In addition, you can now save the progress of all games at any time – very practical. Sonic-Fans grab it.
A fine oldie collection not only for hedgehog fans, whose ‘plus’ extras are of only brief interest.
