Guest of the latest podcast episode No Guts No Galaxy became Russ Bullockstudio manager Piranha Games Inc.responsible for the giant fighting robot simulator MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
As it turned out, the team is already working on a new game in the legendary series, the events of which unfold in the universe Battletech. According to Bullock, the game will be formally announced in the fall of 2023, possibly in September. It will be a separate product, not directly related to MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and not an add-on for it, but based on the same technological base. The main game modes will be single-player campaign and co-op.
The developer’s language seems deliberately vague, and one gets the impression that this is not about MechWarrior 6but about some spin-off or spin-off.
Despite the relatively early announcement, the game may not be released until 2025, when the license to use the trademark and universe of the iconic tabletop vorgame ends. The developer noted that in this case, the team may need a small license extension.
