Taking on an emotional post-apocalyptic theme, The Last of Us managed to steal the hearts of its players through the two previous games, both in terms of story and gameplay. Now fans can only hope that Naughty Dog will re-release The Last of Us Part 3.
The Last of Us Part 3?
Thanks to the success of The Last of Us Part 2, many fans hoped that this series would continue in part 3. In the year The Last of Us Part 2 was released, this game won several nominations at game award events, including the Game of the Year version of The Game Awards. Currently the studio has not confirmed plans for the third game. However, based on what was said by Neil Druckmann as the creative director of Naughty Dog, there is still hope that The Last of Us will continue.

According to reports from GamesRadar, Druckmann said that more stories were prepared when asked about The Last of Us Part 3. He also explained that a live action TV series that will air on HBO is also part of his plans to further develop this franchise. Comments about more stories could be true for The Last of Us part 3.
New Potential Stories in Part 3
In 2021, Neil Druckmann answered during an interview, he stated that the development plan for The Last of Us Part 3 was still in the discussion stage. Unfortunately, until now there is still no answer regarding the results of the discussion.
Basically, the story potential that The Last of Us Part 3 will bring is quite a lot. We might get a protagonist change from Ellie to Abby which is shown in the ending of part 2 along with Lev’s partner. Or it is possible that Ellie will have a similar role like Joel in parts 1 and 2 who will be in charge of guiding the new character later. The huge popularity of The Last of Us is indeed quite a shame if it only ends in two games.
