Video card repair specialist KrisFix has noticed a spike in 2nd Gen AMD RDNA GPUs. Over the past three weeks, his service center has received 61 Radeon RX 6800/6900 video cards, of which 48 copies turned out to be completely unrepairable. Combines them with a “dead” Navi 21 graphics chip with a short circuit on the main power lines and / or physical damage.
At present, it is difficult to say what exactly led to the abrupt failure of the top-end AMD Radeon video cards of the past generation. However, KrisFix interviewed its customers and found that they were all using the graphics driver that AMD released in early December. At the same time, the video card could fail both during the game, and when watching YouTube, or without any load.
In any case, before drawing any conclusions, you should wait for more accurate information about the causes of the above problem or comments from AMD itself. The latter, by the way, is now busy exchanging reference Radeon RX 7900 XTX video cards with a defective evaporation chamber.
