This month of January on the Netflix platform, a new fantastic series adapted from a famous literary saga arrives.
If you liked the teenage epics of Harry Potter or Stranger Things, maybe you should take a look at this new Netflix production which will be available from January 27, 2023. Mixing a variety of genres between adventure, fantasy, detective and action, Lockwood & Co takes us to the heart of a detective agency run by two teenagers and a clairvoyant girl who fight ghosts. Reading enthusiasts probably already know that it is actually an adaptation of the series of books of the same name by the British author Jonathan Stroud, also at the origin of the Bartimaeus Trilogy.
How many episodes to watch?
For the time being, it is a first season of eight episodes, the filming of which was completed last March, which will be offered on the Netflix platform.. The series is directed by Joe Cornish, screenwriter of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) who also collaborated on the script for Ant-Man. William McGregor (Misfits, His Dark Materials) also helped direct a few episodes.
On the casting side, you will find young talents Ruby Stokes (Where is Anne Frank!, The Bridgerton Chronicle), Cameron Chapman and Ali Hadji-Heshmati. Since the literary saga includes five volumes published between 2014 and 2017, new seasons could very well be on the program if success is there. Recall that recently, Netflix relies heavily on an economic strategy that depends on an important parameter: the completion rate, which is the percentage of a show’s audience that goes to the end of the series. In the case of the canceled 1899 series, we know that it amounts to only 32%, against 60% for Arcane, for example.
