In a month, the long-awaited Hogwarts Legacy will finally arrive. For Avalanche Software, this is the last straight line on the communication side. After the companions, the teachers and the spells, the studio has just drawn a double secret weapon by confirming the presence of an expected character and by offering the services of a well-known actor.

Cryptic elements in Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy communication are commonplace. The end of the second gameplay presentation, the strange collector’s edition book, the many references to Merlin… Many elements are slipped here and there and leave room for theories of all kinds. Harry Potter fans love to hunt for clues and Chandler Wood, CM of Avalanche Studios knows it. Yesterday, on his Twitter account, the CM of Avalanche Studios put coal back in the chimney and said he was looking for “the right words to teaser” the next announcement. In passing, he admitted that fans were quick-witted and wanted to give them a hard time with a new riddle.

Suffice to say that the latter immediately made tons of assumptions. New gameplay presentation, trailer, ASMR video, another line of communication (after companions, teachers and spells)… Some even thought that the tweet in question was already a teaser. “The night brings advice” would therefore be a hidden way of insinuating that the next announcement will be linked to the night. A night excursion in Hogwarts? A more detailed overview of the dorms? Well, to tell the truth, it was not on this part that we had to concentrate, but rather on “finding the right words”. And yes, the revelation was not long in coming and it is indeed dubbing that we are talking about with in particular the contribution of a big actor to give life to an expected character.
A story of voices
Phineas Nigellus Black, the most hated headmaster in the history of Hogwarts and ancestor of Sirius Black, is finally honored by the studio. We knew he would be present in Hogwarts Legacy but the presentations had so far not really been made. Avalanche Software has remedied this confrontation by presenting us the one who will double it: well-known British actor Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Paul). According to the actor, Phineas is “rather an idiot” and risks putting a spoke in the wheels of our protagonist. In any case, the very British accent of the actor seems to stick well with the image that we have of the character and that makes you want. But that’s not all !

In a post on the Wizarding World site, the studio told us more about the in-game voiceovers. In addition to Simon Pegg, we will therefore also find Sebastian Croft (Love, Death and Robots, Game of Thrones) and Amelia Gething (Emily). Depending on your choice, one of its two actors will lend his voice to your young witchcraft student. Lesley Nicol (Dowtown Abbey) will give life to Professor Matilda Weasley (yes another Weasley as the Sorting Hat would say). Pell-mell, we also have Asif Ali for the Hermione of Hogwarts Legacy (Mahendra Pehlwaan); Kandace Caine for Natsai and her mother; Sohm Kapila for Professor Satyavati Shah or Jason Anthony for the Sorting Hat and Nick Almost Headless. And fans of the films will be delighted to hear that a familiar voice will come into play. Luke Youngblood (Lee Jordan in the movies) will indeed play Everett Clopton, a young Ravenclaw who is quite a joker. Suffice to say that Hogwarts Legacy offers a more than friendly cast and allows itself to teaser colorful characters.
As a reminder, Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled for February 10 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. A PS4 and Xbox One version will be available from April 4. And finally, from July 25 it will be possible to browse Hogwarts on Nintendo Switch.
