According to Kotaku, inside Ubisoft cuts have already started amid the studio’s financial problems and the cancellation of three games – they began last fall.
The company will write off about $537 million in expenses related to upcoming and closed projects, research and the like. In the next two years, Ubisoft plans to cut costs from its budget of about $215 million through restructuring.
Unnamed employees of the firm told the media that they are already seeing the consequences of management’s decisions, including those same layoffs. According to official figures, 27 people have already been laid off.
In addition, the number of available vacancies, which previously filled recently laid-off specialists, has decreased, and the contracts of temporary workers have become less frequent.
Wherein Skull and Bones, which was rescheduled for the sixth time, has acquired an additional team from the office in Paris – it should help the authors with the release. However, the head of development is still Ubisoft Singapore.
In the next fiscal year (which ends in March 2024), the studio plans to release another major project, which has not yet been announced. During the same period, the release Assassin’s Creed MirageSkull and Bones и Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Apparently, additional details about the mysterious novelty will be announced at the E3 conference in June. At the same time, on January 13 at 20:00 Moscow time, Ubisoft will hold an individual presentation dedicated to Skull and Bones.
