You’ve probably read it already: Phase 2 of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King will start on January 16th or 17th, 2023 (depending on the region) and the titan fortress of Ulduar will open its doors on January 20th, 2023. But what about Archavon’s chamber? Shouldn’t a new boss be added to the Titan Fortress in Wintergrasp? The official article on the German WoW site does not say a word about Emalon.

A look at the original English text from the Blizzard developers can help. There it says:
Available from the week of January 23, 2023 – new boss in Archavon’s Vault
Emalon the Storm Warden will challenge anyone who dares enter the east wing of the Archavon Crypt in Wintergrasp. Defeating him gives you a chance to receive select items from the Ulduar raid set, as well as Furious Gladiator PvP loot on 25-player difficulty and Deadly Gladiator loot on 10-player difficulty.

If you’re ready to mentally prepare for the raid boss now, you can find our original Emalon the Storm Watcher guide here. Note, however, that even then you didn’t need three tanks to bring the mean and his four storm guards to their knees. The WotLK Classic version can also differ in detail in other respects. However, you can use the basic combat flow as a guide:
Spread out, avoid Emalon’s proximity during Lightning Nova (unless you have abilities like Cloak of Shadows or Feint ready), and focus on Storm minions gaining Emalon’s Overload buff (to avoid a raid-wide explosion). Outside of this add burst phase, you deal maximum damage to the boss.
