Gamer playing with virtual reality headset at smart home
Meta brings an update to the Quest Move app. This allows you to synchronize fitness data from the headset with Google Health Connect.
Meta has been trying to make it easier to access your fitness goals for a while now. They have their own app for this, Quest Move, which shows you all your statistics: how many calories did you burn, how long were you active, etc. Meta previously made it possible to synchronize that fitness data with Apple Health. An update now adds support for Google Health Connect.
As a result, Android users – and users of Google Health Connect – can now also consult their fitness data at a central location. Previously, users had to manually enter their fitness data into the Google app. Now that process is being automated: all data collected by the Quest Move app will be available in the Google app.
Fitnessdata in Google Health Connect
To be able to see how many calories you have burned or how far you have walked in VR in that other app, you must first activate the function. You can do that by going to the settings of your Quest Move app. In it, scroll down until you see the option “Connect Move to Meta Quest Mobile app”. Once that’s done, open the Meta Quest app on your phone. In it you can look at ‘connected’ or ‘connected’ apps, which also include an option for Health Connect. A slide switch indicates whether the apps sync with each other – to enable the function, you also give it a tap.
So you first have to connect your Move app to your Quest app, after which you can link the latter to Google Health Connect. The process is admittedly cumbersome and ensures that you cannot ignore the Quest application. In any case, it all takes less time than entering the data manually.
