01/14/2023 at 1:15 p.m. by Maximilian Hohm – Anyone currently looking for AMD graphics card drivers could come across infected websites in their Google search that look very similar to AMD’s homepage. Under no circumstances should drivers be downloaded there, as they are contaminated with malware. Therefore, read more about the problem below and what solutions are available for it.
AMD’s new Radeon RX-7900 models are the first representatives of RDNA3 and, like all new graphics cards, need regular driver updates that can improve the performance of current games on the graphics cards and eliminate any problems. Most gamers download these driver updates directly from the Internet and could currently fall victim to an issue with Google. Again, when searching for “AMD Driver,” the first search results lead to non-AMD related websites that may cause problems.

A tool for the supposed automatic recognition of the graphics card can then be downloaded there, but according to the PC-Master-Race subreddit it is infected with a virus. While such practices are usually immediately obvious, caution is advised here as AMD’s genuine website has been very well recreated or copied and at first glance there is no difference. Until Google reacts to the problem and possibly changes its search algorithm in a meaningful way, there are two recommendations for gamers who want to update their drivers.
On the one hand, AMD’s website can be used. This can be found under the URL https://www.amd.com/de and here the new drivers can be downloaded virus-free. On the other hand, users can navigate to their AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and access the settings there. Under the System tab, new graphics driver versions are displayed directly for download and the “Download drivers & software” option would even do this automatically so that you never have to search online for the driver again.
