This should not be surprising.
The Western European states did not want to be the first in the supply of NATO-style main battle tanks to Ukraine, so they delegated this “honor” to individual “hawks” from among those who wanted to curry favor with the leadership – in this case, Poland. Polish President Andrzej Duda has already ordered to provide Ukraine with a company of Leopard tanks, and now, using the precedent set, Britain is joining the supply of tanks. At least the fact that the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has already prepared a corresponding decree, learned the British edition of The Sun.
In total, according to the information available to the publication, twelve tanks will be transferred: four of them “immediately”, and the other eight – shortly after the first delivery.
The Challenger 2 is the main battle tank of the British Army. It is important to remember that the countries of the collective West are reluctant to make decisions on the supply of NATO-style tanks, since they are fundamentally different from Soviet / Russian-style tanks, are more whimsical in use, demanding on maintenance, use a different type of shells, and also require a long process of crew retraining. Of course, if along with the tanks, Britain is not going to send “volunteers” dressed in Ukrainian uniforms from among the former British tankers.

In general, experts agree that the Frankenstein monster is being created from the Ukrainian army out of desperation: all the equipment available at the beginning of the armed conflict with Russia, as well as everything that could be scraped out of the countries of the former Warsaw Pact, was lost in battles.
