Google and NVIDIA side with Sony, expressing concerns to the US regulator about Activision Blizzard's deal with Microsoft

Google and NVIDIA have raised concerns with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Thus, the companies joined Sony to raise questions about the deal, which the FTC is trying to block through the courts.

The commission argued that the deal would hinder competition in the video game industry and set an internal trial for August. Any company can be called to testify in an FTC lawsuit.

Google and Nvidia have provided information supporting the FTC’s key contention that Microsoft could gain an unfair advantage in the cloud, subscription and mobile gaming markets. This is reported by informed sources who wished to remain anonymous. NVIDIA reportedly stressed the need for equal and open access to games, but did not directly oppose the acquisition.

While Microsoft has promised to release future Call of Duty games on competing platforms for at least 10 years, as well as bring the franchise to the Nintendo console, regulators fear the company could make it difficult for competing platforms to seamlessly access Activision’s most popular titles after the purchase. .
