Game: Wario Ware Touched Publisher: Nintendo Developer: Nintendo Genre: Dexterity Tested for: DS Available for: DSUSK: Released in: 4/2005
Premiere for Wario: While the nasty mustache usually has to take a back seat to his friendly relative when the console is launched, this time he is allowed to run at the same time. And while Mario presents ‘just’ an N64 update with a handful of new mini-games, the latest one offers WarioWare-Episode with the subtitle Touched A whopping 180 attractions tailored to the DS.
As with the previous parts, you engage in a rapid series of minimalist skill exercises, each lasting just a few seconds – only interrupted by whimsical boss fights that sometimes take a little more time. In contrast to the GBA and Gamecube episodes, only the built-in microphone and the touchscreen are used here, all other buttons are not used. If you have solved enough tasks by blowing, rubbing, drawing and nudging, there are also teasing bonus gimmicks such as a yo-yo simulator or a ping-pong that can be played in pairs on a DS.
Opinion & Rating
Ulrich Steppberger says: Anyone who loves quirky games will love the new WarioWare happy again: Nintendo didn’t dare any big experiments apart from the formula for success, which is why the mixture works again. Not every idea catches on, but fortunately this is less important due to the short duration of each discipline and the large scope. that me Touched despite the funny free game gimmicks, is due to the innovative operation of all things. The use of the stylus limits the variety of the individual tasks, which are now clearly classified into individual categories and are also simpler. Also so is Wario Ware Touched still great fun, but just not the big hit that was hoped for.
Another quirky and fun collection of tiny games – not quite as good as the previous one.
