According to Variety, former Apple executive Ben King will now join Sony Interactive Entertainment as senior vice president of consumer experience, where he will manage the PlayStation Store along with the rest of the PlayStation consumer-facing industry. Ben has a wealth of experience in this area, having worked at Apple for over 12 years.

Ben King praised the PlayStation store, commenting that it “has become one of the most visited digital media stores on the planet.” In addition, the former executive aims to deepen user relationships and further improve the store financially and in terms of user experience.

“This gives us a unique opportunity to be creative in our relationships with our users, helping them get the most out of the PlayStation ecosystem, while creating financial opportunities for our game studio partners,” said Ben King.

The senior vice president also discussed the many ways the PS Store can be improved. The former Apple executive aims to “better serve our community by delivering a more personalized experience, helping every customer find the perfect entertainment for them on the right channel at the right time.”

The community has noted Sony’s alliance with the former Apple executive, saying it’s a good sign of what’s to come for the store. Ben King has an excellent track record while at Apple and developing various international growth strategies as head of the Apple Services Division.

In addition, the PlayStation Store is already on the path to success, recently providing the ability to create personalized PS Store gift cards to help others. Perhaps Ben King will finally be able to fulfill the biggest desire of gamers – the ability to give games to friends as gifts right from PlayStation consoles.
