In our preparation guide for phase 2 of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic, we recommended that you occasionally visit Outland’s Zangarmarsh to farm Flamecaps there. Not only do the fiery blossoms give you a chance for your melee and ranged targets to eat additional fire damage, you also gain 80 more fire spell power for 1 minute.

And best of all: you can use the caps in addition to your normal DpS or mana potions. In fact, Flame Caps were so popular with some players in WotLK Classic Stage 1 that you had to put down more than 30 gold pieces per plant on many servers.

Compost waste instead of DpS bloom
If you’re one of those players who’ve laboriously farmed yourselves or splurged on gold to build up a decent supply of Flamecaps to rock Phase 2, then we’ve got bad news for you. The Blizzard developers have made a small but indelicate change on the public test server: If you use flame caps, you will also activate a cooldown of three minutes for all potions in the future.
From now on you have to decide whether you want to throw in a flame cap or a DpS or mana potion in battle. In all cases, the potions from Northrend should give you the bigger bonus. It goes without saying that word got around quickly, which in turn had an immediate impact on the prices for flame caps. Now, increasingly, you can buy Zangamarsh blossoms for some silver as well (although several players are trying to convert their Flamecap supplies into as much gold as possible before everyone knows about the nerf).
