The first racket of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina commented on the victory over Petra Kvitova in the second round of the Australian Open.
“Today I was incredibly supported, thanks to the audience. This is my first Australian Open where I made it to the second round and I’m incredibly happy that I made it to the third right away.
Flags of Ukraine in the stands mean a lot to me. My country supports me, but I also want to thank the Australians, today I felt a lot of emotional support. Without such support, I might not have made it today.
Kvitova is an aggressive style player. Today there were key moments when I played a little more reliably and got an advantage, but I could swing in any direction. I’m very glad it all happened the way it did.
I think I’m ready for the third round match, but I never watch tournament brackets. I think it’s stupid to look ahead,” Kalinina said.
