Will American actor Vin Diesel make an appearance in the Avatar sequels? The official response has fallen.
It’s official, rest assured, Vin Diesel won’t be appearing in the next Avatar movies. If you didn’t know, for some time now, a rumor has been circulating about the possible presence of the actor in the next feature films by James Cameron. The idea was raised in 2019 by the star himself who seemed to want to cast a big doubt by posting a video of him alongside Cameron on Instagram. The footage was captured while filming performance sessions capturing the Avatar movie sequels. Asked about the reasons for his presence, Vin Diesel then declared:
I spent some time with James Cameron but I haven’t shot anything yet. I love James Cameron and I love the show… you could say we’re going to work together.
After such remarks, we naturally imagined that Vin Diesel could make an appearance in parts 3, 4 or 5 of the Avatar saga. Unfortunately, there is nothing. Vin is actually just a ‘fan’, film producer Jon Landau tells Empire, saying the actor just came to visit the location out of courtesy. And to add that “people took that out of context”. Our colleagues from BFM remind us, however, that earlier, in the columns of Entertainment Tonight, Diesel said that Zoe Saldana, main actress of the saga, was “the reason why he made Avatar”; words that seem very strange today.
A busy schedule
Rest assured, Diesel is not short of work: He will be showing Fast and Furious 10 and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2023. Recently, he also landed the first role in the feature film Bloodshot directed by David SF Wilson and scripted by the duo Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer which had ended up on SVOD platforms only two weeks after its release in North American theaters. The adaptation of comic books which features the character of the same name had won the sad score of 31% by critics on RottenTomatoes, while the public had rather granted him a nice 78%. Bloodshot was then the most watched film on the platform in December and climbed to the Top 1 of the SVOD service in France.
