Game:Mecha Ritz: Steel RondoPublisher:HEYDeveloper:Hanaji GamesGenre:Shoot ’em-UpTested for:SwitchAvailable for:SwitchUSK:6Released in:12 / 2022
The story premise of the shoot’em up from Japan, which was released on PC in 2016, is weird and the chosen graphic style (probably best described as lo-fi pixel art) is even weirder, but it’s always clear and easy to read. Enemies and projectiles in bright neon colors stand out well against the backgrounds, creative bosses with many individual parts and several phases are clear highlights.
Mecha Ritz belongs more to the Bullet Hell trend, but is also easy to play for newcomers. If the deliberately idiosyncratic look appeals to you, you can really shoot it up here.
Behind the crude surface hides a finely playable and well thought-out Bullet Hell shootout.
