Inflation will start to be felt by customers of the main operators in Portugal. The first announcement was made by Ana Figueiredo, CEO of Altice Portugal. At the time, increases of 7.2% were promised at the beginning of February.
Increases in NOS and MEO take effect in February
Now reference is made to 7.8% inflation rate, and this will be the increase that MEO customers can expect in their overall bill. But if you are a NOS or Vodafone customer, you can expect similar increases.
In the case of NOS, it revealed in December that “the new prices will come into force on February 1, 2023 and each customer will be able to consult their specific update on the NOS website, from January 23, 2023”.
Without revealing a concrete percentage of the price increase, it is believed that it could follow the baseline of 7.8% of inflation. Also because this will be the path that Vodafone will also follow.
Increases felt at Vodafone from March 1
In a note published on its official website, Vodafone states that information on the new prices of its services will be made available from January 30th. But the increases will only be felt from March 1.
“Vodafone Portugal will update the price of telecommunications services provided to its customers from March 1, 2023, with a maximum increase of 7.8% in the overall invoice amount, according to the subscribed services and in accordance with the terms and conditions provided for in the respective contract”, it can be read.
These increases in telecommunications prices thus reflect the increase in the cost of living that has taken place over the last few months. For the customer, this can mean an increase of at least €2 for a TV+Net+Voz service or €4 if they also have a mobile phone associated with the same bill (estimates made by MEO in October last year).
