From February 28, 2023, Destiny 2: Lightfall will offer a new destination, new adventures, weapons, enemies, story, strikes, raids, dungeons, whatever. But true Destiny aficionados are waiting for a convenience feature that was announced with the new expansion: the loadout manager, which lets you save builds and the associated armor and mods and switch them in no time at all.
So far the game is like this: you play an activity that your loadout doesn’t lock. Do you want to quickly switch from one mod to another, change the fragments of your focus for a moment? Then be prepared to wait. Because it’s not just that changing a mod, an aspect, a fragment or a simple item not only requires several clicks, but also causes loading times that feel like forever, especially on the last-gen consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4. This is fiddly and annoying. And that’s why the loadout manager should help in the future.

Because, as the Bungie developers themselves admit, many game systems have simply grown over the past, become confusing and some redundancies have crept in. That’s why the buildcrafting for your guardians with Destiny 2 (buy now €12.00): Lightfall is completely overhauled. A first step towards a more comfortable future was that the developers recently unlocked all standard mods for each Guardian. And now we continue with the presentation of the loadout manager.
Here’s a Warlock that created three loadouts for the six slots unlocked. With the new Guardian ranking system you can unlock all ten slots. Each loadout label offers a selection of colors and icons to choose from including Crucible, Raids, Trials, Gambit, damage types and more. Source: Bungie
10 loadout slots for a Hallelujah
One of the most important pieces of information about the loadout manager is already there: You can save up to 10 loadouts – but you can unlock them via the new guardian ranking system. That’s not an awful lot, as most Destiny veterans will note, especially when adding strand subclassing with Lightfall. But it is a start. It is also important: armor and mods are no longer assigned to an energy type, i.e. no longer arc, solar, stasis or void.
The new mod customization screen makes creating builds much easier, as you can see all currently applied mods and how they affect your stats in one screen. From here you can quickly select different pieces of gear and start tinkering. Source: Bungie
And also interesting: “We are moving from mods for specific weapon types to mods for specific damage types to increase the flexibility of the builds.” So could potentially mean switching weapon elemental types, making it easier for you to build with your weapon preference for certain builds – for example, Solar weapons are important for the Warlock’s Solar Bracer build, but maybe not every Warden likes one Running around midi tool because he doesn’t like SMG gameplay. In general, however, it sounds quite good that all mods in the game are checked and, if necessary, adjusted.
Champion mods become perks
Important for all players who use Anti-Barrier, Unstoppable and Overload mods in Raids, Dungeons and Strikes: “Artifact mods are also converted to unlockable perks. They no longer have to be used, but are unlocked for the duration of the season , once earned, and are used passively in your gear.” wohooo! “And what does that mean exactly? Assuming the anti-barrier weapon of the season is pulse rifles. This change eliminates the need to equip mods that take up valuable space and energy.” Also added some champion counters to class subclasses. This works out as follows:
Barrier Champions (Solar, Void, and Strand Counters)
If you use volatile projectiles from your weapon, you will also use them to penetrate the barrier and stun the champion. When you are Radiant, your attacks will penetrate champions’ shields and stun them. Even with strand it will be possible to penetrate barriers.
Overload champions (Arc, Stasis, and Void counters
Injuring an ÜberCharge champion by startling them will stun the champion. The champion is also stunned by suppression and slowed by stasis.
Unstoppable Champions (Arc, Solar, Stasis, and Strand Counters)
Blinding an Unstoppable Champion instantly stuns them. Cloaking him in Stasis and then smashing or triggering a Solar Ignition will also stun him. Strang will also have a counter against Unstoppable Champions.
