In September 2022, the Flemish could submit their favorite ugliest website on uglybelgianwebsites.be for three weeks. More than 1,500 websites were in the running for the title of ‘Ugliest Website in Belgium’ and a well-deserved winner emerged: Davy Brocatus’ website!
Davy’s website can no longer be called ‘ugly’, because Combell has given the website a serious overhaul in recent months and proudly presents the updated version.
How it all started
Together with Hannes Coudenys, Flemish vlogger and founder of Ugly Belgian Houses, the IT company Combell started the Ugly Belgian Websites search in September 2022, in which they went in search of the ugliest website in Belgium. From September 19 to October 9, anyone could submit websites on uglybelgianwebsites.be. The 5-member jury, who had the necessary IT and aesthetic knowledge, under the leadership of Hannes Coudenys, took a close look at the nominees and bombarded Davy Brocatus’ old website as the unfortunate winner.
New website for Davy Brocatus
The title of ‘Ugliest Website in Belgium’ naturally came with a nice prize: a complete restyling (including copywriting and logo design) and free hosting and domain name for 10 years, donated by Combell. After a few months of hard work, the redesign of Davy’s website is now complete!
A lot of work went on behind the scenes on the new website, both aesthetically and technologically, with one clear goal: Davy first! Combell listened to his needs and wishes and the focus was mainly on a website that revolves 100% around Davy and what he stands for. The chaos disappeared and made way for clarity, overview and peace. A copywriter not only refreshed the texts in a playful font, but also translated the website into English. Be sure to check the site on your smartphone, because it is now also mobile-friendly. And most importantly: the house style has been refreshed, but still retains Davy’s well-known red color! Surf to davybrocatus.be and discover the biggest makeover in the internet land.
