After the end of the cooperation between NetEase and Blizzard, the end for WoW in China is sealed. NetEase has been distributing WoW’s IP in China for 14 years, but the two parties could not agree on a new contract, which recently led to a strong reaction from NetEase.
But WoW fans should be lured with a new MMO that is clearly “inspired” by WoW. Chinese tech giant Tencent recently unveiled an upcoming MMO called Tarisland. The reveal trailer of the Tencent MMO shows the first game scenes and characters.

The trailer for the MMO was released recently and shows some scenes that are strongly reminiscent of Blizzard’s MMO World of Warcraft. The WoW community is already talking about the next WoW clone. As mentioned, the trailer comes at a very interesting time.

WoW players will find several parallels to WoW in the Tarisland trailer. The Deathwing intro from second 50 of the video, the Dragonflight from the latest WoW expansion Dragonflight from minute 1:18 (including the same flight animation and an area very reminiscent of Plains of Ohn’ahra from the same expansion…) , the Ardenwald from WoW: Shadowlands, bosses from the current classic expansion WotLK but also the armor of the characters will all look very familiar to WoW players. It seems like Tencent wants to appeal to the players who just lost their WoW home.

A giant tree is not an immediate imitation of Teldrassil or the Heart of the Forest in Ardenweald, and lion-headed plate armor is not immediately a copy of Stormwind armor. Tarisland not only reminds MMO fans of World of Warcraft, but also of the discontinued MMORPGs Everquest Next and Wildstar in terms of character design and look. In general, Chinese companies in particular have shown in the past that they completely unabashedly copy WoW characters 1:1.

As in the case of Liilith Games’ Soul Clash, for example, Blizzard is not always able to successfully combat these copyright violations.
