And we thought that the lack of good games and recruitment by quotas was the problem of the industry.

Axios reporter Steven Totilo released the results of the State of Game Industry survey, in which game developers were asked to answer several questions about the current state of the industry and attitudes towards ordinary gamers.

So, 75% of respondents said that toxic gamers, their behavior is a “serious” or even “very serious” problem for the industry. Also, 40% of those surveyed said they had personally experienced insults, threats and harassment.

All in the same survey results, there is evidence that 68% of respondents spoke about the employer’s attempts to solve the problem. Many developers are convinced that game studios are not doing enough to keep their employees safe and away from interacting with toxic users.

The report describes the concern of large companies that toxic players will become their main fanbase. Stephen Totilo emphasized that there are companies in the industry that are seriously fighting threats and insults against their employees. One of these studios is Bungie – last summer it sued a player who constantly threatened one of the employees.
