27-year-old French biathlete Chloe Chevalier commented on the second place in the sprint at the sixth stage of the World Cup in Antholz, Italy.
“This is the first World Cup podium in my career! I am full of pleasant emotions! I want to cry with happiness – I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long! Finally a dream come true, a special day!
After the relay in Ruhpolding, I’m quite confident in my shooting and took advantage of that in the race. I’m glad that we managed to close all the targets.
On the last lap, I knew that I was showing the best time, but it was very difficult to maintain speed. I tried to keep calm and just run to the finish line, but sometimes I was overwhelmed by emotions. Then I took a breath, told myself: “You are in the lead, and this is normal. Everything will work out.”
We are very close with Anais, she was waiting for me at the finish line and was very worried about my last lap. I was glad to be able to share emotions with her, we both cried with happiness and celebrated my first podium!” Chevalier said.
