One of the most successful films that the DCEU has produced in recent years is undoubtedly the Aquaman solo film. With more than 1.14 billion US dollars, the DC hit starring Jason Momoa has brought in more money than any other project in the DCEU. The sequel is due out at the end of the year. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on December 25, 2023. With the move to the DCU – under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran – Aquaman is probably over.
Is Jason Momoa staying in the DCU?
However, it looks like Jason Momoa – even without Aquaman – will continue in the DCU. On Thursday, the 43-year-old returned very euphoric from a meeting with Warner Bros. While the actor didn’t go into detail, he happily thanks Peter Safran, James Gunn and David Zaslav, who serves as CEO and President of Warner Bros. Discovery. There’s a shout of joy on top of that.

What is Jason Momoa so excited about?
Of course, DC fans now want to know what makes the actor freak out. Jason Momoa hasn’t revealed the secret yet – but it’s fantastic news. It is now speculated whether he may have gotten his dream role in the new DCU. It was not until November that it was said to have been a dream project, which apparently was about DC hero Lobo. The euphoria with which Momoa left the Warner meeting could indicate that the role actually works.

Who is actually Lobo?
The alien bounty hunter made his debut in 1983 in DC Comics. So far, the character hasn’t been seen too often – outside of the comics. Appearances included several episodes of the Superman and Justice League animated series. There was also a short film made over 20 years ago that starred Andrew Bryniarski as Lobo.
Before we can see James Gunn’s film universe in the cinema, however, it should be some time. In addition to the Aquaman sequel, The Flash and Shazam 2 are also on the agenda. However, we already know that there is a new Superman in the DCU. However, it will not be actor Henry Cavill.
