Netflix confirmed that millions of homes will be targeted by the new password sharing rules and people who don’t pay the extra fee will be blocked. Are you on the list of users that Netflix will block?
Netflix will block millions of users! Are you on the list?
Homes that access Netflix through a shared account will soon be left with less to watch. The streaming TV company has been trying to crack down on this popular practice for several months now. In fact, in certain parts of the world there are already features that prevent users from providing their data to friends and family.
There have been rumors for some time that Netflix was going to give a big ax to those who use the service through shared passwords. Now that time has come and all this has been officially confirmed.
Of course, not everything is bad. This is because whoever engages in this behavior will be able to pay a fee. Something that comes out cheaper than paying for a complete plan. Even so, it will be yet another burden for around 100 million users who have access for free.
Netflix is clearly aware that this change is not very popular. This made it easier for those who use a free account to migrate, so that they can switch to their own account without losing their viewing history.
Eventually the system enters March.
How account transfer works
In a very simple way. Let’s imagine that we’re in an account with four or five other people and we have our profile, let’s imagine called Pedro. Now, through the new tool, we can join Netflix in isolation and transfer Pedro’s profile to our new account. With it go many other things with everything we watch, likes, among other things.
Everything works in a very simple way. So, in order to proceed with the profile transfer, we will have an option within the menu associated with our account.
So we have to go to the profile and then in the menu we click on Transfer Profile.
However, if you try to do it before having seen the email, you will not succeed.
This is because you will first need to respond to an authorization email sent to your account.
In practice, the email presents our functionality and has a link where we have to click to activate the function.
In addition to being able to activate immediately, you can also deactivate. If you do nothing, profile transfers will become active 10 days after the email is received.
However, remember that even if you authorize now, you can disable profile transfers whenever you want, in your account settings page.
Once we have authorized it, we can go back to the transfer mechanism.
As soon as we manage to do this, we are informed that Netflix has made it much simpler to transfer profiles to a new account.
Then all we have to do is introduce the data of the account where we want to place our profile.
However, when the process is completed, the account owner is notified that we have transferred our profile.
It is undoubtedly a nice way to lead to the creation of new accounts and above all to ensure that no important information is lost that could condition the suggestions and everything else that Netflix makes available.
