01/23/2023 at 09:10 a.m. by Karsten Scholz – After almost four years, a new season of the sci-fi cult series Orville has finally started on Disney Plus with the episode “Electric Sheep”. From now on, the other nine episodes will appear weekly.
“Electric Sheep” is the title of the 71-minute opening episode of Season 3 of The Orville – New Horizons, which you can now watch on Disney Plus. Fans of the series had to wait almost four years for this. You have been able to watch the new adventures of Ed Mercer (played by series creator Seth MacFarlane) and his crew since June 2022 via MagentaTV (English original version with German subtitles), and from January 2nd, 2023, ProSieben also began broadcasting the third season .

Best season of the cult series?!
While Orville still felt like a harmless but thoroughly entertaining Star Trek parody and homage for large parts of the first season, the series blossomed from episode to episode and season to season for many Star Trek fans to an independent cult series that could easily overshadow current Star Trek offshoots such as Discovery or Picard.

In the third season, MacFarlane and his team had the largest budget to date, which not only has a positive effect on the action scenes and visual effects, but also on the length of the episodes.
In Season 3 you can expect a total of ten episodes, each of which breaks the 60-minute mark. The last three episodes together even have a running time of four hours and five minutes. Since the episodes on Disney Plus are only released weekly, fans of “Binge Watching” will have to wait a while before they can watch the entire season on Disney’s streaming platform in one go.
