Rob Ciccolini, executive producer of MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online, shared some plans for the future during a live broadcast. He stated that the long-awaited River Hobbits could appear as early as this year if they don’t have to switch to other projects. Also planned for 2023 is a terrain difficulty slider for regular servers, the launch of two-factor authentication, and more avatar options for humans and possibly other races.
In addition, the team is considering adding boats or even houseboats to the game for players, although these features are not confirmed at the moment. A new and improved forum is under development, but the studio does not plan to open an official Discord server yet due to the need for its moderation.
On the topic of lag, the executive producer said that work on fixing them is ongoing, and the engineers have a solution that looks promising.
