As we know, the official artbook of Hogwarts Legacy is at the center of a leak from which numerous details are emerging on the contents of the highly anticipated game arriving on February 10, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X/S. Many, in fact, the images of the book appeared through the most popular forums such as Reddit.
In addition to revealing details on the Hogwarts Legacy quests, an important clarification in terms of narrative and lore also comes from the artbook, linked to a well-known area at the center of the second book and film of the Hogwarts saga Harry Potter. As revealed in a passage of the artbook, the Chamber of Secrets it will not be present in any way within Hogwarts Legacy, for reasons of temporal coherence with what is narrated in the original works. And this in spite of Avalanche Software I have however tried to devise a way to include the iconic scenery without creating paradoxes.
In confirming that the dormitory of the Slytherin and the Chamber of Secrets are both located in the basement of Hogwarts castle, at the beginning of development the design team immediately started to find a sensible way to implement the area, but the idea was then scrapped due to force majeure , as Avalanche points out: “Unfortunately this idea would have led to some difficulties for us, so we decided not to include it. We certainly didn’t want to make the player believe that he could kill a Basilisk that must necessarily be there in 1992!”.
The reference is obviously to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secretswhose events begin in 1992, when the Chamber is opened and the Basilisk begins attacking Hogwarts students by petrifying them. Therefore, the choice of not wanting to risk creating temporal paradoxes on the part of the developers is understandable.
