Harry Potter anecdotes reappear…
In a documentary broadcast on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the film series and recently made available to HBO Max outside our regions. An anecdote made some fans react. Indeed, in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, a passage shows Harry Potter, the Weasley family and the Malfoy family face each other in a store. If this scene remains memorable for the interest it reveals at the end of the film, it marked some of the actors for a completely different reason. In an article published by Startefacts on January 22, the details around this sequence are detailed.
During filming, actor Tom Felton played his character Draco Malfoy. In Fleury and Bott’s magical bookshop, the Weasley family collects second-hand course books, for lack of being able to buy new ones. During their school shopping, Lucius Malfoy, played by Jason Isaacs, makes fun of them and their poverty. Not very friendly, you will agree… Nevertheless, another attitude was supposed to make the Death Eater even more unsympathetic. Indeed, Draco Malfoy had to search the bookshelves while his father was talking. An attitude that marked the childish character of the character played by Tom Felton.
Draco Malfoy held back tears
At one point, Lucius Malfoy had to defiantly take his son back, punching him in the hand. When this scene was shot, it seems that the adult with platinum blond hair hit the hand of the one who played his son too hard. On the set and with the cameras trained on him, Tom Felton, aged 14 during filming, reportedly refrained from crying. However, the actor’s sentiment did not escape Jason Isaacs who immediately quit acting. The latter would have flatly apologized to his young colleague.
However, this would not have been the only time the Slytherin student would have been intimidated by the actor who played his father. People present during the production of the films would have said this according to Startefacts: “Felton was positive about his experience with Isaacs, then he then thought twice about it. He finally said that it wasn’t always positive and that he could quickly turn into the most unsympathetic and horrible person possible”. Nevertheless, this attitude is only true under the spotlight. Being used to playing antagonistic roles, the actor could easily transform. What easily impress the young Tom Felton.
Since, the two actors seem to be friends. Jason Isaacs had notably given his public support to the various projects of the one who played his son in the Harry Potter saga. On Instagram, he encouraged it with a touch of humor last September:
I’m so proud and thrilled to see my son dominating the stage today, breaking hearts and filling pants. Equally impressive, he records music and has a book coming out too. Me, I feel proud if I take out the trash on the right day (it doesn’t happen often). I would hate him if I didn’t love him. – Instagram Jason Isaacs
