As Disney+ continues to expand the Star Wars universe on the small screen, Ewan McGregor remains hopeful for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi (albeit a chilly one).
The mini-project marked the actor’s first appearance in the franchise since Revenge of the Sith. According to the plot, just ten years after the events of this episode, Obi-Wan Kenobi settles on Tatooine to look after little Luke Skywalker, and as a result, pulls the boy’s sister Leia out of trouble.
In a recent interview at the Disney Studio Awards, McGregor and fellow miniseries iconic actor Hayden Christensen spoke about their return to Star Wars. When McGregor was asked about the possibility of a second season, he confirmed his interest (already, by the way, not for the first time).
“I was so happy to be back there and work with Hayden again and I hope we get the chance to do it again. In the old days, I would joke that between the third and fourth episodes there should be a very good story that is not embarrassing to tell. But it’s true. I’ve always felt that’s the way it is. Director Deborah Chow found such a story and absolutely coped with the task, ”said McGregor.
The final episode of the series premiered on Disney+ on June 22, 2022. Subsequently, enthusiast Kai Patterson recut the six-episode project into a film.
