How to delete your Facebook account? Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to say goodbye to Mark Zuckerberg’s social network, but figuring out how to close your Facebook account isn’t as easy as that. Here is a tutorial designed to answer this thorny question!
Facebook is no longer an attractive social network
In the early 2010s, Facebook exploded and you created your account at the same time as your friends and family. In about ten years, many things happen and, like Theseus’ boat, you are no longer exactly the same person as before. Between shameful photos and embarrassing posts, you realize that it’s been ages since you’ve used Facebook, replaced by hours of scrolling on Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter or even TikTok.
The reasons for seeking to close his Facebook account abound. The 2010s star is still doing well globally, but has stopped winning over new audiences back home. Let’s be frank, today, Facebook is a nerdy social network with a reputation sullied by dark legal cases related to a catastrophic management of the personal data of millions of users.
Of course, Facebook doesn’t want people to leave the platform. As a result, it is quite complicated to find out how to delete your account. This tutorial is there to accompany you in this perilous process. There are two different steps to delete your Facebook account. These two actions have distinct consequences so let’s detail them one by one.
This first technique is the most radical. After applying the following method, your account will be completely gone and you will not be able to reactivate it after 30 days have passed.
Posts, photos, or anything else (like a page that you alone control) will be erased from public view. Note, however, that you cannot delete your messages this way since the people you sent them to may keep a copy.
Be careful, this manipulation could cause connection problems to all the services to which you have subscribed via Facebook. Of course, your Messenger account, linked to Facebook, will also be deleted.
We strongly advise you to grab a computer, whether you are on PC or Mac. It is possible to delete your Facebook account from a smartphone or tablet application (via the security settings), but everything is simpler and more readable with the PC interface.
1) From the Facebook home page, click on the top right corner of the down arrow icon located on your profile picture. 2) Head to the Settings and Privacy menu, then to the Settings submenu3) In the left column of the screen, you should see “Your Facebook information”, click on these words. If you can’t find them where indicated, they may be hiding behind another sub-menu called Privacy. 4) Scroll down until you find Deactivation and deletion. Click on Delete account and then Continue with account deletion. Confirm deletion and you’re done.
As we reported earlier, permanently deleting your Facebook account can lead to some issues. To avoid them while disappearing from the social network, you can simply deactivate the account temporarily. It will remain in the databases of Mark Zuckerberg’s firm and you are free to reactivate it whenever you wish.
A temporary deactivation does not delete any content, but hides you completely. No one, not even your friends, will be able to access your account. However, they will still be able to contact you via Facebook Messenger and your connections via Facebook will still be relevant.
1) Follow steps 1-4 described above. 2) Choose deactivation rather than deletion.
