From March 31a Netflix will discontinue its app on some Vodafone TV box models. Therefore, for all Vodafone Portugal customers who have a TV box to access the television service included in their package, it’s time for a change! This, of course, if they intend to continue using the supported streaming platform application present in the box.
To do so, they must contact the operator through its dedicated Customer Service line: 351 911 691 200 / 16912.
The request is simple, the user must request the replacement of the television box or Box TV. This is so that you can continue to enjoy the contractually stipulated conditions, in particular access to Netflix.
Vodafone customers with an old box are without Netflix in April
Access to the Netflix platform can be done through various means. The most frequent will be through the computer or the smartphone / tablet through the respective app. However, we can also do it through our TV boxes provided by operators in Portugal such as Vodafone, MEO, and NOS.
That said, like any current technology, it is subject to evolution and improvements that gradually cease to be supported by older equipment (hardware). Such is the case in some of the oldest Box TVs from the operator Vodafone Portugal, as reported by the Observador newspaper.
According to this source, from the 31st of March it will be necessary to have one of the most recent models of the television box of this national operator to access Netflix through this means.
Fortunately, the telecommunications service provider will allow the exchange of them – although no other behavior was legally expected.
Is Netflix available on my box TV?

This same question is answered on the operator’s support page, as well as on the page of the online movie and series streaming platform itself. We recall, moreover, that the Netflix arrived in Portugal in 2015 thanks in partnership with the operator in question, Vodafone Portugal.
As the source further advances, “Thus, Vodafone provides customers with TV box models where Netflix remains functional, allowing the respective exchange”. Having questioned Netflix itself on the subject, the Observer did not obtain, until the time of publication, an adequate response.
Vodafone customer will be notified and must request the replacement of the TV box
Furthermore, Vodafone itself mentions that “some older TV box models” will be affected. However, it points out that its Vodafne customers will be informed through “messages in their boxes and SMS campaigns”.
In addition, “given the specificities of each customer’s service”, the company suggests that customers contact customer service through the usual channels.”
In short, the operator is available to change the television box they may have at home, upon the user’s request.
