Recently, Microsoft has laid off more than 10,000 employees and among them we also find members of Xbox studiosincluding 343 Industries, a team that according to a report by IGN USA would have been particularly affected by the early January bounties.
343 will continue to work on Halo and despite the layoffs the studio will continue to support the franchise to the best of its abilityis what we read in a message published on the company’s social profiles.
According to a new report though the situation would not be so rosy and in general it seems that Microsoft has fired many members in various sectors of the studio, we are talking about a quarter of the employees left at home, with over thirty layoffs only in the graphic, artistic and special effects department. Many employees who worked on the SlipSpace Engine would also be fired, as well as game designers, producers and engineers.
According to what was declared by a source close to the studio, 343 would now have the dimensions “of a team dedicated only to publishing” and many believe that Microsoft wants to change its approach, having Halo developed by a pool of external studios with 343 Industries at coordinate operations given his experience on the franchise. For the moment this assumption has been disproven from 343 Industries and the company reaffirms its commitment to the Halo series.
