On Wednesday morning, the servers that keep Microsoft 365 up and running suffered a malfunction. The cause of the problem is currently unknown.
On Wednesday morning, the working day could not really start for many people. Microsoft 365, the suite of Office applications from Microsoft, has problems. Due to the malfunction, several users cannot consult their emails or access their files.
The exact cause of the problem is currently unknown. However, Microsoft has already been able to determine that it is probably a network problem. A solution is currently being worked on. Every hour, Microsoft promises to send an update on how the problem is progressing – so at 10 am there will be more news about the cause of the problem and a possible solution.
Not everyone appears to be affected by the network problems, as some can simply log in to Microsoft services. For those who cannot do that, there is not much to do but wait for a solution to the malfunction.
Interference for various applications
The following applications were affected by the network issue and are therefore unreachable:
Microsoft Teams
Exchange Online
Outlook
SharePoint Online
OneDrive for Business
Microsoft Graph
None of those applications can currently communicate with the Internet. This also means that, for example, Word documents stored in the cloud cannot be edited. Furthermore, you will not be able to receive or send new emails. The web applications for Outlook and OneDrive are completely unreachable and Teams conversations will not – or at least with difficulty – continue.
Microsoft already knows how to say that if you have a problem with one of the services, you will also have a problem with other applications from the list.
