Adult Swim has announced that it is ending its collaboration with the creator and main voice actor of Rick & Morty, but that does not mean the end of the series.
Justin Roiland is the co-creator and main voice actor of the animated series Rick & Morty. Whereas it is currently indicted on multiple chargesthe string that produces the series Adult Swim has announced they are parting ways with himbut continue the series.
Justin Roiland charged, Adult Swim separates from him
Justin Roiland has been charged by the district attorney’s office of Orange County, California, for blows and wounds with bodily harm and sequestration by threat, violence, fraud and/or deception. It is an ex-companion who filed a complaint in May 2020 for acts of domestic violence dating from January 2020. He pleaded not guilty in October 2020 and is currently free, after several preliminary hearingsand if we do not yet know the date of his trial, a new hearing will take place on April 27. This is not the first time that the series has been linked to court cases, since the series’ other co-creator, Dan Harmon, had previously been the target of complaints for sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior in the past. It is now off the hook, and will now be the series’ sole showrunner …

“Rick & Morty Will Go On”…without Rick and Morty’s voice
Adult Swim has announced the end of its collaboration with Roiland in a brief statement:
Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland.
Rick & Morty will continue.
The talented and dedicated team is working hard on Season 7.
Justin Roiland was not not just one of the two creators and showrunners of Rick & Morty. In the original version, it was also the one who dubbed the most voices in the series. In fact, he was responsible for the voices of Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith, Mr Meeseeks, Mr Top Hat Jones, Ant-in-my-Eyes Johnson, The Eyehole Man, Stealy and Mr Poopybutthole. It will therefore be necessary for Adult Swim to quickly find new voice actors for these characters, especially for Rick and Morty, the two main characters who inevitably marked a good part of the public also by their singular voices.
Rick & Morty will last at least ten seasons!
Rick & Morty is not finished, far from it! While the six first seasons have already been released, the seventh is currently in development. Above all, we know that the series will go up to ten seasons, since 70 episodes had been ordered in 2018, after the third season. It will therefore be necessary to wait a few months to discover Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith and their new voices in the next trailer for the upcoming season 7.
On his side, Roiland is not unemployed neither. Despite the accusations against him, he is – for now – still the showrunner of the animated series Solar Opposites, streaming on Hulu. The series has been renewed by Disney for a fourth and a fifth season. Justin Roiland is also one of executive producers of the animated series Koala Man, launched two weeks ago on Hulu as well. So it remains to be seen what Disney will decide regarding him, for these two shows. Finally, remember that Jusin Roiland is also the creator of the video game High on Life released on December 13 latest, and more generally from the development studio Squanch Games.
The first five seasons of Rick & Morty are available in France on Netflix. Season 6 currently airs exclusively on Adult Swim here.
