The last interview granted to NME by Fergus Urquhart gave the co-founder of Obsidian the opportunity to reveal some interesting background on the projects in development at his team before the acquisition of Obsidian by Microsoft, which took place in November 2018, and the consequent entry into the Xbox family.
The high exponent of Obsidian Entertainment explains that his team, specialized in the realization of several projects at the same time, before the marriage with Microsoft was engaged in the development of a video game ‘rival of God of War’ (we don’t know if cross-platform or Xbox exclusive).
The title in question, reveals Urquhart, would have drawn inspiration from the action adventure experience of the first God of Warbut against the background of a story with strong references to the famous novel by Jules Verne Journey to the Center of the Earth.
The co-founder of Obsidian explains that this ‘God of War rival’ wasn’t the only video game being worked on by his team: in those years, the Californian software house was also developing a platform adventure of Rick e Mortyan RPG based on The Walking Dead and, believe it or not, an interactive experience centered around the reality show Cops!
